Description: Gregory Johnson attended San Jose State University. He was a great student and had a bright future. He had been killed just because of racism and hatred. According to police, his death was just a suicide and it was easy to ignore it. Gregory was one of the victims of the racist system and it needed to be spread to the student community and public
Solution: For this project, I want to make the sculpture on a human scale (6 feet in height). I chose black marble, which represents his race. Moreover, the texture also conveyed the idea of a tribute to his death. Black marble has been used in gravestones. Furthermore, the location was one of the most important and I chose King Library. It reminds people about Gregory’s death and encourages people to keep fighting for the equal.
